Lakeside High School of Evans, Ga., captured first place in the DOE Savannah River Science Bowl at USC Aiken on Saturday – qualifying the team for an all-expense paid trip for a national competition in Washington, D.C., on April 24 through 28.
Savannah River Nuclear Solutions managed the competition. Dorman High School of Spartanburg finished second. The Governor’s School for Science and Math in Hartsville took third.
Team member Will Hardy is from Graniteville.
A total of 20 teams participated in the Science Bowl, among them North Augusta High School, Midland Valley High School and South Aiken High School.
During an informal “brainteasers” activity, South Aiken placed third in the chemistry brainteaser, sponsored by SRNS and the American Chemical Society.
