CHARLESTON (AP) — Six days of events commemorating the 150th anniversary of the attack by the black 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry conclude in Charleston with the laying of a wreath at the site of a future memorial.
The ceremony on Sunday evening on Charleston’s historic Battery features re-enactors representing both North and South. It’s being held at the site of a future memorial to the dead who fell at Battery Wagner in 1863.
