A single-vehicle crash on Piney Heights Road in Langley Monday morning has resulted in the death a Warrenville man, according to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.
Wayne Ford, 55, was pronounced dead on the scene from multiple body trauma. The crash occurred at approximately 7:04 a.m.
Ford was traveling east on Piney Heights Road when he lost control of the 1998 Ford Ranger P/U he was driving, Carlton reported. As he entered a curve near Cato Road, he left the roadway, over corrected the vehicle, went across the westbound lane and struck an embankment.
Ford was ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing his seat belt.
Carlton said Ford was traveling at a speed higher than the posted 45 MPH.
S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash along with the Aiken County Coroner's Office. Toxicology is pending. This is the 19th traffic fatality in Aiken County in 2013.
