The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Thursday night stabbing in Beech Island.

About 9 p.m. Thursday, a Midland Valley firefighter and first responder found 35-year-old Leroy Larid bleeding at the corner of Fairview Drive and Parker Drive, according to Capt. Eric Abdullah. Larid told deputies he was approached by a man who asked him for money, and when he refused to give the man money, he stabbed the victim in the shoulder and ran into the woods.

Larid was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center for treatment and is in stable condition, Abdullah said. Deputies searched the surrounding area for the suspect.

The only description officers have of the suspect is that he is a white male, bald and wearing blue jeans.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 803-648-6811, or CrimeStoppers of the Midlands at 888-CRIME-SC.
