Pieceful Hearts Quilters, a local quilting group, will be celebrating its 25th anniversary this weekend with its biyearly quilt show.

The event, Quilting on the River: Silver Thread, will be held at the North Augusta Activities Center located at 100 Riverview Park Dr. It will run on Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We have been doing this for several years, and for the last number of years we’ve had it at the activities center,” said group member Betty Hospetler. “This is our 25th anniversary, so we’re really excited about it.”

Judges will be looking at more than 250 quilts that will be on display. Judging began Tuesday, and the quilts were hung up over the last two days to prepare for Friday’s showing.

The event will also include demonstrations and quilt appraisals. Admission is $6, and children younger than 12 can attend for free.

In addition to the quilts on display, the event will feature several other items and activities. There will be approximately 18 vendors present who will be selling various items related to quilting. Vendors include Branums’ Sewing & Vacuum; Busy Bee Designs by Billie; The Cotton Quilt; Garage Art; Handmade North Carolina Baskets; and Heritage Quilt Shop.

Group members will also be participating in their own way. Several members have made things for sale and will be selling those items in a silent auction.

North Augusta Mayor Lark Jones will also be present to pick his favorite quilt, as well as members from the North Augusta Cultural Arts Council. Pieceful Hearts Quilters is inviting everyone in the community to celebrate the anniversary.
