Running in their first ever race, the Fox Creek cross country team successfully ran the Highlander Invitational 5K in Columbia with virtually every runner posting personal best times.
The team took their “Wolfpack” mentality to heart with the majority of the runners posting similar times and pushing each other to do their best.
Senior Shayne Owens and freshman Jordan Beall paced the team, establishing school records for other runners to strive toward.
Despite only running for a little more than three weeks, without any funding or uniforms, the Predators were successful.
Their coach and teacher of the year, Bill Warnken, was happy to see his runners excited about racing because of the potential on the team.
Fox Creek’s next race is on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Darlington Cross Country Invitational.
