For Paul Knox Middle School’s volleyball team, Thursday’s match against Aiken ended the regular season, one that saw the Patriots (12-0) cruise to an undefeated record.
“We finished up 12-0, and we really had a great season,” said Cheryl Morris, Paul Knox’s head coach.
The Patriots started the match slowly against Aiken, facing a 6-2 deficit early in the first set. After a few rallies, the Patriots came out of the first set with a 25-15 win.
“We served really well today, and they (Aiken) had some trouble with service receiving,” Morris said. “We were also able to spike and control the net today. That’s our game, bump, set, spike, and that worked for us in this one. Hopefully, we can keep this going into the playoffs.”
Paul Knox fell in its playoff opener, however, to Kennedy Middle, 25-20, 25-20, 25-12. North Augusta Middle also fell in its quest for a county championship, losing to undefeated Schofield, 25-6, 25-14, 25-8.
