Fox Creek baseball wins region title

The Fox Creek High School baseball team finished its region slate undefeated and locked up the region title by shutting down Ridge Spring-Monetta 18-0 in five innings. The Predators (18-2, 10-0 Region 4-A)

Dalton Swires (6-2) pitched all five frames and had eight strikeouts while giving up just two hits.

Corey Lucas, Roby Gillespie and Terrance Hillary each went 2-for-3, and Gillespie and Hillary each contributed a double.

“Winning the region is our first goal every year and we have accomplished that four years here in a row,” Wesley Brown, Fox Creek’s head coach, said. “Now we just have to finish the season strong and put our foot on the gas to the finish line to obtain our remaining goals.”

Fox Creek will play Aiken on Wednesday and Pelion on Thursday to close out the regular season.
