Augusta hospital considers building facility in Aiken

University Hospital in Augusta is considering plans to build an 88-bed, 86,000-square-foot assisted living facility in Aiken.

The hospitalís board of directors agreed Thursday to pursue funding for the facility which would be located in The Village at Woodside off Silver Bluff Road, according to hospital senior communications specialist Erica Cline. The estimated cost for the facility is $22 million.

Cline said Woodside Plantation approached the hospital about the venture.

University Health Care System is anchored by the 581-bed University Hospital, and serves Augusta-Richmond County and the surrounding region.
