Blotter for May 10
According to reports provided by the Aiken Department of Public Safety:
A 54-year-old Aiken man was detained for driving under the influence on Wednesday after he backed into a vehicle outside a home on Sumter Street. The officer saw an open container of beer in the car, and the driver was taken into custody after failing multiple field sobriety tests.
A 33-year-old Aiken man was detained for unlawful carrying of a pistol on Thursday after he was seen walking away from a group of people on Brandt Court who had reportedly been making a lot of noise. The man appeared nervous, and told officers he had a gun on him. They found a .45-caliber handgun in his waist band.
A burglary was reported on Chesterfield Street on Thursday.
According to reports provided by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office:
A 36-year-old Ridge Spring man was detained for disorderly conduct on Thursday after he was found walking on the side of U.S. Highway 1 in Ridge Spring. The man exhibited signs of intoxication and told officers he had been drinking.
A 63-year-old Salley man reported identity theft on Thursday after learning that someone filed an income tax return using his name.
Burglaries were reported on Pine Street in Warrenville and Chime Bell Church Road in Aiken.
