AIKEN 9 MIDLAND VALLEY 5
Aiken Post 26 was in danger of losing its first game of the season on Monday night before the offense came alive to help the team beat Midland Valley 9-5.
Trailing 5-2 heading into the bottom of the eighth, Post 26 managed to load the bases with Austin O’Shields at the plate. After Abney moved to third, he scored on a suicide squeeze bunt by Patrick Ferguson to make it 7-5.
Aiken went on to tack on two more runs in the inning. The team finished the game with 12 hits. Ferguson went 3-for-5 in the game, and Brandon Miller and Austin Strickland were both 2-for-5. Cory Lucas finished the game with two hits as well.
