Man dies after crashing into SC home

HONEA PATH, S.C. (AP) — Anderson County officials say a 23-year-old Honea Path man has died after his pickup truck crashed into a mobile home.


Coroner Greg Shore says Adam Colby Payton died at the scene of the crash in Honea Path on Saturday afternoon.


Shore said there was a fire in the cab of the truck after the crash. A passenger in the truck managed to escape without injury.


The coroner said Payton came around a curve, ran off the right side of the road and overcorrected and ran off the left side of the road before hitting the home.


Shore says a woman in the home was not hurt.


Coast Guard rescues sick fisherman off SC

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The Coast Guard has rescued a sick fisherman from a boat off the South Carolina coast.


The Coast Guard says a helicopter evacuated a sick man from a commercial fishing boat 45 miles east of Bulls Bay late Sunday morning.


The Warrior III sent a distress call around 8:30 a.m. after a fisherman onboard reportedly began suffering from chest pains and stomach problems.


A helicopter took the man to Charleston, where he was taken by an ambulance for further medical treatment.


His name was not released.


Man found stabbed to death in Greenville County

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — A man found stabbed to death in Greenville County.


Sheriff's Sgt. Jennings Autrey said deputies were called to the Taylors community about a possible stabbing shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday at an apartment complex in the Taylors community.


Coroner Parks Evans says the victim was 35-year-old Lawrence Montrel Bress.


Evans said an autopsy was planned Monday.


No arrests have been reported.
