FLORENCE — A day after having a game in the American Legion baseball state tournament delayed by about four hours, Aiken Post 26 returned to the diamond Monday only to encounter an even longer delay.
Constant rain made Florence’s American Legion Field unplayable, so Aiken’s game against Lancaster Post 31 was halted in the first inning. It isn’t scheduled to resume until 10 a.m. today.
The Post 26 boys held a 1-0 lead when the game was stopped and must win to extend their season. Should Aiken beat Lancaster, and the weather permits, it will have a quick turnaround. It would play again at 5:30 p.m., where it would face the winner of the game between Socastee Post 178 and Florence Post 1 – the tournament’s host.
