U.S. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz plans to visit the Savannah River Site Monday, where he will meet with workers, local elected officials, and stakeholders to discuss the Site’s leadership in national security and the development of environmental remediation technologies.
Moniz will be joined by S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, and Undersecretary for Nuclear Security and National Nuclear Security Administration Administrator Frank Klotz, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
H-Canyon, the H-Tank Farm and the Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility will all be included in the tour.
Moniz will also meet with members of the local community and will be available for a brief media availability.
Later in the day, Moniz will tour the Savannah River National Laboratory’s Applied Research Center.
