AUGUSTA — The Augusta GreenJackets (48-54) lost 2-1 Thursday, as the Savannah Sand Gnats (65-33) scored the game-winning run in the top of the ninth.
With Raymundo Montero (1-4) on the mound for Augusta, Colton Plaia hit a solo home run to left field. Dario Alvarez (7-0) got the win for Savannah with two perfect innings of relief, and Akeel Morris retired Augusta in order in the ninth for his 10th save.
Tyler Horan drove in the GreenJackets’ only run with his 14th home run of the season.
