The Aiken County Board of Education will hold a special meeting today at 6 p.m. – specifically to complete work on a ballot imitative on a proposal for a sales tax proposal.
The Board is expected to approve the final form of two ballot questions, which must be delivered to the Aiken County Elections office by Aug. 15.
As a part of the general election in November, Board members will ask county voters to approve a one-cent sales tax increase. Most of the revenue over a 10-year period would go toward new construction and maintenance for School District facilities. Ten percent of the revenue would be used to reduce property taxes.
The meeting will be held at the District office, 1000 Brookhaven Drive.
