A 72-year-old Aiken man was detained after allegedly urinating in front of officers, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
Johnnie Richardson, of Richland Avenue, was charged with disorderly conduct and urinating in public. He was placed in the Aiken County detention center, where he remained on Tuesday morning.
Officers responded to the intersection of Sumter Street and Richland Avenue at about 7 p.m. Monday, where they found Richardson crawling on the ground and complaining of chest pain, according to an incident report. Police said they smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from Richardson, who was unable to stand without assistance.
When an officer told Richardson paramedics were almost to the scene, Richardson opened his pants and began urinating in front of the officers, police said. Richardson said he did not need to go to the hospital, and he was placed in handcuffs, according to the report.
