MCENTIRE JOINT NATIONAL GUARD BASE (AP) ó Jets with the South Carolina Air National Guard took to the skies over the Myrtle Beach area.
Senior Master Sgt. Ed Snyder said Wednesdayís activity was a training exercise and should not cause any alarm.
Snyder said the exercise included pilots and crews from the 169th Fighter Wing from McEntire Joint National Guard Base near Eastover.
Snyder said the exercise was coordinated with the Federal Aviation Administration. It helps train Guard members on airspace defense tactics.
The unit has been serving as part of the nationís North American Aerospace Defense Command since the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
