According to reports provided by the Aiken Department of Public Safety:
Gunshots were reported on Aldrich Street at about 8 p.m. Wednesday. Two people reported hearing gunshots, and officers found five shell casings on the ground near a playground.
An Aiken man reported gunfire on Wyman Street at about 9 p.m. Wednesday. He said he saw a male suspect walking through the area draw a gun and fire a single shot at a stray dog, missing the animal.
Two Augusta girls, ages 14 and 15, were detained for shoplifting on Wednesday after they tried to take items from a store in the Aiken Mall without paying.
A 71-year-old Aiken woman reported fraud on Wednesday after her grandson allegedly took checks from her and used them in fraudulent transactions.
According to reports provided by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office:
A 27-year-old North woman reported on Wednesday that someone vandalized her vehicle while it was parked on Tabernacle Road in Salley. The vehicle had dents and holes in it, broken windows and four flat tires.
A 48-year-old North Augusta man was detained for an open container on Wednesday after an officer saw an open can of beer in his vehicle during a safety checkpoint on Cherokee Drive.
A burglary was reported on Two Oaks Road in Beech Island on Wednesday. The owner reported a weed eater, a trash can and tools missing.
Additional burglaries were reported on Gizmon Court in Beech Island and Pelzer Street in Langley.
An attempted burglary was reported at a home on J.B. Swartz Road in Wagener on Wednesday. Officers responded to an alarm and found that someone tried to force entry through a set of french doors.
Vehicles were reported stolen from Old Tory Trail in Aiken and Bleachery Street in Clearwater.
