Downtown Aiken has lost another longtime business.
Tea Garden Gifts, known for its unique variety of wares aimed at wedding, hostess and corporate gift items, has closed its doors after 17 years in business. The store was located at 131 Laurens St.
“While it was a painful decision, it was one we made with much thought, prayer and discernment,” Cathy Bland and Mike Willis with Tea Garden Gifts wrote to customers through the store’s Facebook page. “Tea Garden has been a fixture in our town for 17 years, serving our patrons with unsurpassed customer service and attention to detail.”
They went on to write to their customers, “It was that personal attentiveness that kept us a part of your lives. We are so grateful you chose to share with us such happy occasions as weddings, anniversaries and other events.”
An opportunity to comment on the closing was refused last week when the store was contacted by the Aiken Standard, and messages left on the store’s Facebook page went unanswered.
