The Free Riders Motorcycle Club is gearing up for its 11th annual back-to-school giveaway.
The event will be held Saturday at Perry Park, located at 720 Abbeville Ave., and will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Event coordinator Carol Scurry said kids can look forward to hot dogs, drinks, fun and games, and will walk away with school supplies for the new school year.
In addition to the supplies that will be available for all kids, the winners of some of the games will also take home a backpack.
Scurry said several local agencies and groups are expected to be in attendance, including City of Aiken officials and Aiken Public Safety officials who will talk about fire safety.
“It’s a great way to help take some of that financial burden off of the parents, and at the same time, get the children excited about the school year,” Scurry said.
She added that Free Riders has always been a strong advocate for education and recently awarded two scholarships to local high school seniors for the upcoming school year.
The group is also encouraging residents to donate extra school supplies for the Free Riders to distribute. Donations can be taken to Smith Hazel Recreation Center located at 400 Kershaw St. Inquires can be directed to Scurry at 803-761-1543.
