Aiken City Council and staff will discuss updates to The Alley and a property adjacent in two committee meetings on Thursday.
Both meetings are a follow-up to previous meetings held to discuss potential upgrades to The Alley and the consolidation of City owned properties.
City Utilities and Engineering Director George Grinton introduced upgrades to The Alley in a City Council meeting in June. The project started in December with the idea to install underground power lines and reduce drained water flow into Hitchcock Woods.
Conceptual improvements to The Alley, including underground power lines and additional light sources, comes to an estimate of about $1.25 million. That estimate includes SCE&G franchise funds and landscaping and stormwater funds from Capital Project Sales Tax Round Two.
The meeting to discuss The Alley will start at 4:30 p.m., and the meeting to discuss City property at Newberry Street and The Alley will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Both meetings are open to the public, and will be held in room 204 on the second floor of the Municipal Building, located at 214 Park Ave.
