An Aiken man who found his home burglarized also found a wallet belonging to his neighbor, who had reportedly just been released from prison for burglary, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
The victim returned to his Sumter Street home at about 3:30 a.m. Monday and found an upstairs window open, according to an incident report. In the room, he found a wallet belonging to his neighbor.
The victim reported only a video game console missing, police said. The bedroom window appeared to have been pried open. Officers went to the apartment where the suspect reportedly lived but he wasn’t there, police said. The suspect’s mother told police she didn’t know where he was “due to the fact that he just got out of prison for burglary.”
No arrests have been made in the case as of Tuesday morning.
