Rachel Franklin has been planning the 50th anniversary of the SNO-CAP Drive-In for many months.
As the co-owner of the restaurant, Franklin has six events planned to help celebrate the milestone, ranging from a customer appreciation day to a kids night.
The first event, which takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, is a North Augusta Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours meeting.
On Saturday, Aug. 23, there will be two events, a Franklin’s Customer Appreciation Night – where loyal customers, past owners and employees will be honored from 4 to 7 p.m. From 6 to 9 p.m., there will be a tribute to the CSRA Road Angels Car Club with music by Dana Watkins.
On Aug. 24, there will be a private employee reception for past and present employees. Franklin said all employees are welcome back, including those who left their jobs at the SNO-CAP.
The regularly scheduled Last Tuesday Bike Night will take place on Aug. 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. This edition of the bike night, which began in 2003, will be a tribute to founders Mark Steedley, Bob Hinds and Marsha Hopkins.
On Aug. 28 the SNO-CAP will hold a kids night season kick-off with Lady Bug the Clown and balloon twisting. Kids night will take place from 5 to 8 p.m.
The final event of the 50th anniversary celebration will be a Last Saturday Cruise-In hosted by GaSCar. It will be a tribute to Dixie Wheels Car Club, and will feature music by Shelley McGee and DJ Don. It will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. The SNO-CAP is located at 618 West Ave.
