On page one of the Aiken Standard on Aug. 7, we learn of the advocacy group supporting the one-cent sales tax for area schools. On page three of that paper, we learn of the Aiken County School District’s scores for third through eighth grades dropping significantly. Will new mortar and brick bring up those scores?
What is more disturbing is the school district’s response that they are “still confused by the standards and what’s being tested.” Apparently, other area schools that have done well are not confused.
