MYRTLE BEACH (AP) — A man who was shot and wounded in a Memorial Day weekend shooting in Myrtle Beach has been arrested on a weapons charge.
Multiple media outlets report that Keith Alextrus Williams, 24, of Lincolnville is charged with having a stolen pistol when he was shot.
Williams was injured and three people were killed in the shooting at a Myrtle Beach motel. Williams was hospitalized for several days after the shooting.
Police Capt. David Knipes says the stolen gun Williams had was not used in the shooting. It was not clear if he has a lawyer.
Police have not made any arrests in the shootings that followed a fight. The other victims were Jamie Williams, 28, of Ladson; Devonte Dantzler, 21, and Sandy Gaddis Barnwell, 22, both of Summerville.
Police think the shooter fled out of the back of the hotel.
The Memorial Day weekend shootings have prompted Grand Strand officials to form task forces to improve safety during the holiday weekend next year. Several hundred thousand people come to the area for the annual Atlantic Beach Bikefest and other beach activities.
Gov. Nikki Haley visited Atlantic Beach last month and urged the town council to end the biker festival. She said the state would work with the town to transform it into a family-friendly destination that tourists from across the nation will visit.
Atlantic Beach Mayor Jake Evans has repeatedly said the town has no plans to end the Bikefest.
