Aiken County voters will be asked on Nov. 4, to approve a one-cent tax increase. We know that once a tax is levied by government, it seldom disappears even though the original objectives have been met. The federal excise tax is a good example.
A little know fact concerning this proposed one-cent tax is that there is a “drop dead” period of ten years at which time the tax would expire unless voters approved an extension. Given this fact, is this not a “win-win” situation?
I am a senior citizen and have no “dog in the fight” with no kids in school, but I can say with certainty that your children need and deserve the very best education available in order to provide future leaders for this great nation. Investing now in our community will pay big dividends for decades to come. Please vote yes on Nov. 4.
