Aiken residents have the opportunity to head into Labor Day by spending less at the cash register.

The Aiken Downtown Development Association’s annual Labor Day Sidewalk Sale will be held throughout downtown at participating member businesses from Thursday through Saturday.

“There will be deals galore to take advantage of throughout downtown,” Avery Spears-Mahoney, executive director of the association, said. “Also, this is a great opportunity to support local businesses that give back to our local economy.”

Participating businesses will include 3 Monkeys Fine Gifts, Equine Divine, Truly Trendy, Pitter Patter Children’s Boutique, Aiken Antique Mall and Lionel Smith Ltd.

Gaye Cain, manager at the Aiken Antique Mall, said since the store is a multivendor business, the Sidewalk Sale will include various booths.

“We have over 40 vendors, and we have a lot of participants from each vendor during this sale,” Cain said. “Each booth may have an overall or special sale. There’s a lot of different booths that will be active.”

Cain also said a sale like this one is great for the community and downtown Aiken.

“It’s a good time to purge products that are not going to be relevant for the fall or winter time,” Cain said. “You can get back-to-school bargains since everyone is just getting back into school, or, you can give a new look to your space. It’s a great time to clear out all merchandise and make room for new.”

Spears-Mahoney wanted to remind residents of one last thing to take advantage of during the sale.

“Once you have taken advantage of all the wonderful sales, be sure to enjoy a bite to eat at one of the many extraordinary restaurants downtown,” Spears-Mahoney said.

Other participating stores will include Cyndi’s Sweet Shoppe, Aiken Churches Together Serving, Aiken Center for the Arts, Birds & Butterflies of Aiken, Charlotte’s Bridal Fashions, Folly, MB Jewelry & Beads, True Value Hardware and Vinya’s.
