An Aiken man is dead after he crashed his motorcycle Friday afternoon.
Willis L. Purvis, 55, was pronounced dead on the scene of the collision that occurred on Gun Range Road in Aiken at about 1 p.m., according to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton. Purvis died from multiple body trauma, according to a press release.
“Mr. Purvis was returning home on his 2007 D1000 Suzuki motorcycle when for unknown reasons he braked hard, lost control of the vehicle, and was ejected,” Carlton stated in his release.
Purvis, who was described as an experienced motorcyclist by a friend, was not wearing a helmet, the press release further stated.
Toxicology is pending.
The incident is being investigated by the Aiken County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
