A Georgia woman was charged with DUI after her vehicle collided with a parked van on Pine Log Road late Wednesday, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
Jessica Eryn Kendall, 40, of Brookwood Lane in Grovetown, was charged with driving under the influence. She had not been booked into the Aiken County detention center as of Thursday morning.
Officers responded to a collision on Pine Log Road in front of Staples about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to an incident report.
A group of civilians was trying to assist the motorist inside the silver two-door car, which was on its side in the parking lot.
The driver, Kendall, was partially hanging out of the driver’s-side window.
Officers noticed the smell of alcohol on Kendall, who was extracted and transported by EMS to Georgia Regents Medical Center in Augusta, the report stated.
Inside the vehicle, they found a nearly empty bottle of whiskey, an empty mini bottle of whiskey and a sealed mini bottle of whiskey, in addition to two bottles of prescription medication belonging to Kendall.
Witnesses told police they saw Kendall’s vehicle traveling east on Pine Log Road “at a high rate of speed” when it appeared to swerve toward the curb before losing control and traveling sideways into the Staples parking lot, police said.
The vehicle then collided with a parked van before overturning.
