Fox Creek High School's next baseball coach is familiar with the area.

The Predators announced North Augusta native and former MLB pitcher Jake Smith will lead the program. Smith replaces Kevin Lynn, who took a job at North Augusta High School as the head coach.

“I’m very thankful, blessed and excited to be given the opportunity to coach at a great school like Fox Creek," Smith said in a press release from the school. "Three contributing factors why I think it is a good fit for me and my family is its proximity to home, my positive experience at the school and the supportive administration."

Smith attended Darton College and Campbell University before being drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 2011 MLB Draft. Smith played for the Augusta GreenJackets in 2014 and made his MLB debut with the San Diego Padres in 2016.
