Friday morning marked a milestone for 314 North Augusta residents as the senior class at North Augusta High School received their diplomas and turned their tassels.
Of the 314, a total 292 of them are headed to a two- or four-year college. Five are going into military service.
This year’s senior class went through high school as construction built up a new school around them. They saw the girls’ basketball team bring home three state championships and earned almost $12 million in scholarships.
One student with a unique high school experience is Michael Havasy, a 2019 senior who spent much of his high school career earning credits for college.
Havasy completed Accelerate, a virtual learning experience through the Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics, where he took engineering, math and science courses to earn college credit at Clemson University.
