The driver of the car in an accident that killed a bicyclist in North Augusta on Monday is being charged, according to North Augusta Public Safety.

The driver is being charged with driving too fast for conditions, according to Lt. Tim Thornton of NADPS.

The department will also be speaking with the solicitor's office to determine if any other charges should be made. 

The victim, George Batten, 74, was riding a bicycle on Bergen Road near Five Notch Road. He was struck from behind by the driver of a 2013 Kia around 7 a.m. Monday morning.

Batten died from blunt force injuries, according to the Aiken County Coroner's Office.
