In this week’s column I wanted to give everyone a heads-up for what to look for in the fall of 2019 from your Parks, Recreation, & Tourism staff in regards to ongoing projects and work that is scheduled to take place for the rest of this 2019 year. The Riverview Park Splash Pad will get a shade structure over the end of the facility that is designed for the younger kids. There will also be benches added on the concrete surface of the pad.

The Riverview Park tennis court lighting upgrade and resurfacing courts request for proposals are being posted this week. All seven courts are scheduled to be resurfaced and have new LED lights. We will also be working on proposals for a tennis clubhouse.

The North Augusta PRT staff will be submitting a letter of intent with the South Carolina Parks, Recreation, & Tourism Department staff next week to apply for a Recreation Trails grant for repaving the section of the Greeneway from the Riverview Park Activities Center towards the Martintown Road Bridge. The City of North Augusta would be required to fund a 20% match to the grant if successful. The maximum amount that we can apply for is $100,000.

Last call for fall sports registration as evaluations are getting underway this week. It’s not too late to get your child signed up for football, cheerleading, soccer or girls' volleyball. For more information about all the programs and activities at Riverview Park, please feel free to call us at 803-441-4311 or visit our web site at www.northaugusta.net.
