Excitement is always in the air as the recreation youth football program kicks off the 2019 season Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening at Lions Field with the annual Jamboree. The Jamboree allows our teams the opportunity for a dress rehearsal before the league schedule gets underway on Monday, Sept. 23. Youth football games are played Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings with game times at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Thursday nights are reserved for our 5- and 6-year-old flag football league. Flag football games will be played at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Season passes to all the games are on sale at the gate each night for $5; daily admission is $1.

There are currently 257 participants playing the in the youth football program and an additional 161 cheerleaders. Program Coordinator Derek Boyd is the director of the youth football league and Tourism and Marketing Coordinator Mandy Nelson is in charge of the cheerleaders. Big thanks to our Riverview Park maintenance crew for the beautiful playing surface that our young people have to play on.

The youth soccer program will begin play this coming Saturday as the 4- and 5-year-old "kinderkicker" program takes to the manicured soccer fields at Hammond Ferry Soccer Complex. There are currently 115 kinderkicker soccer players with six teams in the 4-year-old league and six teams in the 5-year-old league. The U8, U11 and U14 boys and girls leagues will begin play on Thursday, Sept. 26. The total number of participants currently registered in this fall’s soccer program is 525. Program Coordinator J.R. Williams is the director of our youth soccer leagues.

The girls’ volleyball league begins play on Monday, Sept. 23 with 10 teams taking to the hardwood floors of the Riverview Park Activities Center. The volleyball program plays every Monday and Thursday evening with game times at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. each night. There are 87 participants currently registered in the volleyball program. Center Program Coordinator Ryan Webb is the director of our girls' volleyball leagues.
