School is back in session and it’s time to get your child registered for our fall 2019 programs. Registration for fall sports that include youth tackle football for ages 7-12, flag football for ages 5-6, cheerleading for ages 5-12, youth soccer for ages 4-18 and girls volleyball for 4th-12th graders is in progress and will continue through Aug. 26. The control birthdate for all of the sports with the exception of volleyball is Sept. 1.

Over 1,200 kids will participate in our fall athletic programs, and high on our priority list is the search for volunteer coaches and sponsors. Please contact Jeff Williamson at jwilliamson@northaugusta.net or 441-4307 if you would like to coach or sponsor one of our teams. There is tremendous value in the investment of our young people.

With the kids back in school it’s time to start that wellness program that you have been delaying all summer. The Riverview Park Activities Center is a great place for cardio workouts, strength training, walking and running. We are a great place for that lunch-hour workout as locker rooms with showers are available. Our senior members enjoy the early morning walks on our 1/6 mile track as well as the senior aerobics class that meets on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 10 a.m. each week. Yoga classes are taught each Monday at noon, Tuesday evenings at 5:30 p.m. and Thursday at noon. Come check us out.

Reminder to all of our folks who enjoy the beauty of the Greeneway and Brick Pond parks that it has been well established that the feeding of wild animals and waterfowl is both detrimental to the animals and causes a public health nuisance and safety hazard to the public. It is furthermore against the City of North Augusta code to purposely or knowingly feed, bait or in any manner provide access to food to any wild animals or waterfowl within city parks or other publicly owned lands in the city. Animal control officers and public safety officers are empowered to enforce this code.

Splash pad updates: Our apologies that both of our splash pads were down over the weekend. The Summerfield Splash Pad has been repaired and is back in operation. We are working on the Riverview Park Splash Pad and hopefully we will have it back up and running. Please be sure to check the City of North Augusta Facebook page or the North Augusta PRT Facebook page for announcements.
