The new year is off to a fast start for your Parks, Recreation and Tourism staff as we are in week 3 of the youth basketball program. Sounds of whistles blowing, scoreboard horns, spectator noise and basketballs pounding the hardwood courts echo across the Riverview Park Activities Center.

This week we want to publish some important dates for our community to mark on their schedules as we look ahead to the many opportunities to be involved.

• Jan. 2020: We are currently accepting registration for our middle school baseball program. Registration is being accepted until Feb. 3. All middle school students in grades 7-8 that attend Paul Knox Middle School or North Augusta Middle School are eligible to participate. The registration fee is $70 and includes team hat, jersey, and socks. Player evaluations are scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 11 at Riverview Park Field D. Paul Knox Middle School students are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and North Augusta Middle School students are scheduled for 7 p.m. The middle school baseball league is a training ground for the high school baseball program to better prepare their future players. All registered participants will be assigned to a team as there are no cuts in this program. Center Program Coordinator Ryan Webb will be in charge of the middle school baseball program along with North Augusta High School Head Baseball Coach Kevin Lynn. For more information on the Middle School baseball program you may call Ryan Webb at 803-441-4361.
