North Augusta: Please remember that it is our responsibility to listen to what our local, state and national leaders are telling us about social distancing. This past weekend was very difficult for folks to follow the rules as we had amazing weather. Most of our community did their part but unfortunately we had some breakdown from others that are causing concern. Please work with us as we do our due diligence to keep our community safe and healthy. This is not easy, but with your help and cooperation we can make it work.
New closures are happening every day based on instructions from our health care professionals and leaders. Boeckh Park is still open for the public but the shelter and dock at the park are now closed. The Hammonds Ferry Soccer complex at Riverview Park is now closed as we are seeing large gatherings on the weekends for football and soccer. The gates are locked, signage is posted and we will start closing the parking lot on the weekends. We have closed the Summerfield Park outdoor basketball courts with signage and yellow caution tape as our community has reported large groups playing pick-up games. North Augusta Public Safety will be patrolling the parks and community spaces to make sure that people are in compliance.
The North Augusta Greeneway is still open and a very popular venue as our community looks for ways to get outside, exercise and enjoy the gorgeous weather. Please be mindful of others on the Greeneway and remember those CDC recommendations for social distancing. North Augusta Public Safety Resource officers will be on the trail on their four wheelers to assist with keeping everyone safe.
Riverview Park and Summerfield Park open green spaces are still available for families and gatherings of three and less. We encourage you to get outside, just do so in small groups for now. Stay safe and healthy, North Augusta!
