Recent Augusta University graduate Morgan Hayes, with the help of the Hammond's Ferry Foundation, has a colorful new feature in place in Boeckh Park, a step or two from the Greeneway. Her creation, entitled "Community Pillars," originated as a class project to create a piece of public art. Hammond's Ferry residents and Hayes cooperated to paint cinder blocks, which represented "them coming together, building up the community and laying the foundation for future generations," Hayes said. The project was completed May 10 — Hayes' graduation day. With Hayes in some of these pictures, from July 9, are entrepreneur Turner Simkins, project director for Hammond's Ferry Developers; and Will Greene, director of sales for Hammond's Ferry (with Blanchard and Calhoun Real Estate).
