The North Augusta Cultural Arts Council held one of its biggest events of the  year Nov. 4, offering its annual concert for veterans. The Savannah River Winds, conducted by Richard Brasco, presented a variety of patriotic songs, and vocalist Beth Spangler led a sing-along. One of the evening's celebrities was North Augusta resident Jack Kendall, 95, a World War II veteran who served in the war's closing months as the navigator in a B-24 Liberator in the Pacific and moved on to a career in engineering.
