North Augusta's city administrator is leaving the city for a new position, according to a press release from the city.

The press release says City Administrator Todd Glover has accepted the position of executive director for the Municipal Association of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C. The resignation will be effective on Nov. 1.

"It was a very tough decision but a great opportunity," Glover said Tuesday. "I have a passion for local government and this will afford me the opportunity to work with all 271 cities in South Carolina."

"While I am disappointed that Mr. Glover is leaving, I am pleased that his extraordinary talents and abilities have been recognized by MASC,” said North Augusta Mayor Bob Pettit in the release.

The release states that the mayor and City Council wish Glover success in his new position.

"The City of North Augusta is grateful for Mr. Glover’s nine years of leadership as City Administrator," the release says.  "While the development of Riverside Village is certainly his crowning achievement, the City has benefited in every aspect from his dedication and vision."

The release states that the transition process and search for a new city administrator will be announced in the coming weeks.

Glover has been in his position since 2012, coming to the city after working for Lower Savannah Council of Governments, for Columbia County, Georgia, and for Aiken County.

Riverside Village is a development often called a "live, work play environment," which includes a minor league baseball stadium called SRP Park, a variety of restaurants, a hotel and two apartment complexes, with more residential, retail and dining spaces being constructed.
