North Augusta’s annual Kids Earth Day festivities were held April 27, starting with a fitness/fun run that drew more than 200 kids (representing J.D. Lever, Clearwater, Merriwether, Hammond Hill, Belvedere and Mossy Creek elementary schools) for a two-kilometer trot (about 1.2 miles). The run, taking place along the Greeneway, was followed by a four-hour gathering in nearby Brick Pond Park, with a variety of organizations offering kid-friendly exhibits focusing on such topics as erosion, local wildlife, camellias and outdoor recreation.
