There will be a meeting of the Aiken County Board of Disabilities and the board of Tri-Development Center on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m., 5080 Jefferson Davis Highway in Beech Island. 

There will be an opening reception for the North Augusta Artists Guild Winter Exhibit at the Order of St. Helena from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019. The exhibit will be open to the public through Feb. 28, 2020. Artists participating are Leron Adams, Noriko Akamatsu, Elizabeth Barnes, Kathleen Boyd, Ron Bonar, Angelika Selman Bondar, Ronda Bryce, Jill Gunn, Mary Donnan Heppert, Beth Jones, Pat Kerko, Donna Lane, Kay Lovingood, Mary McCullah, Rosanne Stutts, Carol Tomory, Sally Van Peurseum, Kaye Ward and Heather Wagner. The Order of St. Helena is located at 414 Savannah Barony Drive, North Augusta, SC, and is open Tuesdays from 12-5 p.m. and Wednesdays-Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Merriwether Christmas Tree Lighting Community Event presented by Merriwether Community Coalition and Merriwether Fire Department will be Saturday, Dec. 7 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Merriwether Fire Station One at 1879 Martintown Road. The event will be rescheduled if it rains. There will be Christmas music, Santa, kids activities, food and family fun. There will be a Christmas performance by the Augusta Chorale at the Nancy Carson Library on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. The library is located at 135 Edgefield Road in North Augusta.

The Aiken County Republican Party meets the second Thursday of each month at the Aiken County Historical Museum-Banksia, 433 Newberry Street, SW in Aiken. A social begins at 6:30 p.m. while the Party Executive Committee conducts a business meeting separately. At 7 p.m. the Monthly Party meeting is held including formal speakers. Parents of Addicted LovedOnes will meet Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 1002 Carolina Avenue, in North Augusta.
