There will be a meeting of the Aiken County Board of Disabilities and the board of Tri-Development Center on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at 1016 Vaucluse Road in Aiken. 

"Quilting on the River" is the theme for this year's Pieceful Hearts Quilt Guild's 2019 Quilt Show at Riverview Park Activities Center, 100 Riverview Park Drive in North Augusta. The show will be on Friday, Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is $7 per person and children under 12 years old are admitted free accompanied by an adult.

The public is cordially invited to the Old Edgefield District Genealogical Society (OEDGS) meeting on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 3 p.m., in the Lynch Building Annex of the Tompkins Library, 104 Courthouse Square, Edgefield. The guest speaker will be Mr. Charles Baxley, who will speak on “Francis Marion, Becoming the Swamp Fox.” This is the story of the transformation of a strict disciplinarian, Continental infantry regiment commander, to a fighter with only a handful of ragged men, no money, no weapons or supplies, no command authority and backed by no government, who in five short months defeated the British in the Pee Dee area of South Carolina and became the legendary Swamp Fox.

American Legion Post 71's annual Veterans Day ceremony will take place at Wade Hampton Park in North Augusta, on Monday, Nov. 11. at 11 a.m. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the post's home on 333 E. Spring Grove Ave. The guest speaker will be Colonel Jennifer V. Sabol, United States Army. Col. Sabol is Commander of the U.S. Army Dental Laboratory at Fort Gordon in Georgia. Col. Sabol has received numerous medals and awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal, with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Army Achievement Medal. Col. Sabol is a native of Waterville, New York.

The Nancy Carson Library will hold a fall book sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Nancy Carson Library Foundation. The sale will be Thursday, Nov. 14 from 5-8 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The library is located at 135 Edgefield Road in North Augusta.

Harmony River Chorus Annual Yard Sale will be Saturday, Nov. 16 from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the North Augusta Church, 600 W.Martintown Road, North Augusta. It will be a huge, multi-family yard sale with craft vendors.

There will be an international games day at the Nancy Carson Library on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. There will be board games, card games and Nintendo Switch games. Popcorn and drinks will be available. The event is for all ages. The library is located at 135 Edgefield Road in North Augusta.

The Belvedere Fire District Commissioners will hold a regularly scheduled meeting Nov. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Belvedere Fire Department located at 204 Hampton Avenue. The meeting is open to the public. There will be a budget workshop ahead of the meeting at 6 p.m.

The North Augusta High School class of 1989 will celebrate its 30th class reunion on Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Savannah River Brewing Company. Tickets are on sale now, with early bird pricing through Oct. 12. For more information and a link to ticket sales, email

There will be a Christmas performance by the Augusta Chorale at the Nancy Carson Library on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. The library is located at 135 Edgefield Road in North Augusta.

The Aiken County Republican Party meets the second Thursday of each month at the Aiken County Historical Museum-Banksia, 433 Newberry Street, SW in Aiken. A social begins at 6:30 p.m. while the Party Executive Committee conducts a business meeting separately. At 7 p.m. the Monthly Party meeting is held including formal speakers. Parents of Addicted Loved Ones will meet Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 1002 Carolina Avenue, in North Augusta.
