I have heard some people acknowledge their enjoyment of storms as long as they are inside and feel safe. The disciples did not feel safe when they found themselves in the middle of a storm at sea. The Scripture describes their mighty struggle with the oars against a powerful gale. The robust winds lingered and prevented them from making any progress. Their fears heightened and they felt defenseless and exposed to the elements. As Jesus walked on the water toward them, they soon felt the winds changing. “Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down” (Mark 6:51).
