I Corinthians 13 has found its way into more wedding ceremonies than we could ever count. This passage, written to persons dealing with everyday issues, describes Christian love in a beautiful and extraordinary manner. When we get down to some of the specific words used to define love, we notice attributes like patience, kindness, persistence and many more. These necessities enable individuals, families and churches to survive and thrive. I think of this love as having staying power and commitment to growth. With God’s help we, and others, can see signs of progress. “Love always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres” (I Corinthians 13:7b).
