A special church service prompted me to think about persons receiving healing in their brokenness and becoming stronger in these areas. Healing occurs in physical, emotional, and spiritual realms. Overcoming an addiction by the help of God and others certainly qualifies as one of these victories. I recall a man in my early ministry who spent his time helping others after he found sobriety. His refreshing honesty, humility, and gratitude enabled him to give much strength to those who experienced brokenness. “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’” (II Corinthians 12:9a).
