“Rest and be thankful,” wrote William Wordsworth. I biked up the Greeneway past the I-20 overpasses on my regular ride. On the way back, I stopped a few minutes and rested on the bench under the westbound bridge. Soon the traffic noise faded and I began to hear chirping and see the many birds zooming back and forth and landing on the underside of the structure. I had not planned to rest, but I benefited from that pause. Jesus said to his disciples during a particularly busy time, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest” (Mark 6:31b).
